On any given day we take in a tremendous amount of stimulus. Processing so many emails, scrolling feeds, reading the news, streams of thoughts, tasks at work, conversations... the list could go on and on. ⠀

We must digest everything we think, feel, and experience. ⠀⠀

It can be helpful and restorative to unplug from time to time. Take a day in silence. It’s a great to unplug from devices and decision making, even if ever so brief. Decisions, emails and social media can wait a day. ⠀

Rather then grabbing a device, how about reading a book or going for a walk in nature. Give your senses a break and an opportunity to restore.⠀⠀

Loving-kindness meditation is a practice of develo Loving-kindness meditation is a practice of developing compassion for ourselves and others. It comes from the Buddhist tradition, though it can be adapted and practiced by anyone. Loving-kindness meditation is essentially about cultivating love. ⠀⠀

Traditionally known as abhyanga in Ayurvedic medicine, self-massage is the ultimate in self-love. Heat up organic sesame, almond or herbalized oil, then massage your body from head to toe, rest for a few minutes, and follow with a warm shower or bath. ⠀

When you come on retreat to Costa Rica we turn this jungle hut into a spa! Receiving a massage with the sounds of the jungle as a back drop is luxurious. ⠀

For now, I have a heater in my bathroom for warmth, a baby bottle warmer to heat up my oil, and abhyanga massage followed by a hot bath. Making it work in the Midwest. ⠀
