“Panchakarma is other-worldly. Partly due to India, partly due to the isolation and quiet, partly due to the servant-kindness of all those that work at Vaidyagrama.

Just when I’m done resting, there is only more time to rest. And on the other side of rest? More rest.

The afternoon treatments — a massage with four hands. Stripped down to my skin, every part of my body scrubbed and massaged.

I took medicine three times a day, did yoga nidra, and in the evening before dinner, joined satsang with the chief physician. There are covered walkways to rooms and sacred spaces and on every side is their garden, growing medicine to heal. Healing with food and herbs, touch, and rest. Feels ancient, holy in that way.

Every night, they smudge and sage every corner of every room. It feels like a temple being cleared daily. A metaphor for my body perhaps. And so it goes. This was one of the better decisions I’ve made in my lifetime.”
