TULSI ROSE MOON MYLK

The natural world is beginning her shift towards autumn. The early morning air is crisp now. The evening light is changing. Living in alignment with the seasons we can harmonize our nature with the natural world’s cycles.

The grounding and calming qualities of moon mylk (aka caffeine-free nutritive drinks made from dairy or nut mylk) make this a perfect drink as an evening night cap to help you wind down.

Tulsi, also known as Holy Basil, is revered as one of the most sacred herbs in India. Tulsi is considered an adaptogen. Adaptogens help the body adapt and recover from stress while being deeply balancing for the nervous system.

The beautiful and aromatic flower of love has many medicinal benefits too. Rose is soothing and calming on the mind and heart as well as being abundant in vitamin C and antioxidants. These sweet petals are balancing for both the Pitta and Vata constitutions.

Ayurveda considers soaked almonds, dates and ghee to be a rasayana. Rasayanas are alchemical rejuvenating tonics that promote ojas. Ojas is the subtle energy or essence that provides strong immunity, nourishment to the tissues and stability to the mind.

10 almonds, soaked in water over night + peeled
2-3 medjool dates
1 tsp tulsi tea leaves
2 tsp rose petals*
1 tsp ghee
1/4 tsp cardamom
1/4 tsp cinnamon
2 c hot water

* It’s essential to purchase organic food grade roses as conventional roses are sprayed heavily with pesticides. Organic rose petals can be purchased in Madison at the Community Pharmacy and Willy Street Co-op or online through Rose Mountain Herbs or Starwest Botanicals.
